I’ve followed the $100 Room Challenge from Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry for quite a while and am excited to participate in my first one. It’s a challenge that seems pretty manageable: you give yourself $100 and the month of January to fix up a room (or a closet, patio, whatever.) The New Year bug bit me on the butt and I’m feeling all organize-y and paint-y, so this year the challenge spoke to me.
But don’t get any crazy ideas. The pink bathroom will be remaining pink. I’m choosing the bathroom primarily because it’s our smallest room, so I’m hoping to make $100 stretch a little farther. Plus, since it’s our only bathroom, I feel like I should really give it its best shot at being great. I don’t think it’s terrible as is, but I would like to make it brighter and more functional.
Luckily, the bathroom came to us in great shape with the original tile in pristine condition and new fixtures put in by our landlord. Here’s the plan for the rest of it, plus before pictures:
You may have seen on Instagram that I’m over our current whole-house beige situation. I’d love to brighten up the room with a warm white – I’m thinking Marshmallow by Sherwin Williams. This room is pretty small, so the paint won’t be a big investment, outside of the time involved. All I can see in the pic above is how many spots I’ll need to cut in. If you’re wondering, the ceiling is also beige, because of course it is.
I haven’t done a good bathroom product purge in a long while. It’s time!! If it doesn’t spark joy or control frizz, it’s outta here.
I’ve been so inspired by The Home Edit in recent months and want all my storage to look and function better. The goal is to re-organize the bathroom closet to make it more useful and just plain prettier.
4. ADD DECOR
I’d like to add a little shelf, maybe a hanging plant, update the rug…not sure what the budget will allow so we will see!
So! There’s our little pink bathroom. I can’t wait to see how it looks with a fresh coat of white paint and a good old-fashioned deep clean and purge. You can follow along with the other participants below. Any suggestions on how to stretch $100? I am going to Vegas this weekend…
